AMH

All my Anna Maria Horner fabric is cut, sewn into squares, pressed and trimmed...now its time to lay it all out and decide on the order of things. This last step tends to take me the longest, I have been known to spend hours moving squares around. I do it over and over again until I get that "this is it" feeling.

This is my trim off pile (I always sew my squares a 1/2 inch bigger than my desired size, then trim them after pressing...it lends to a cleaner finished product), I love the colors and patterns thrown together in these small strips. I think I may start saving them and using it all as confetti in gift bags.

  1. I must start trimming! So you cut all squares 1/2 inch bigger and then trim a 1/4 inch off each side?

  2. That is exactly what I do. It ensures me that if I didn't sew straight or cut a bit crooked, it doesn't effect the end result. It's kinda like cheating, but it works.

  3. I love Good Folks (and have been hoarding 1/2 yds of each as well as FQs of each). I really need to make something one of these days! I have used little fabric strings in gift bags before. Or, very long narrow strips left at the end when rotary cutting strips -- I use a few of those together as ties on a gift in a bag.
