fabric love

Do you have fabric that you love so much that your almost scared to cut into it? Afraid that you won't have the ability to create something worthy of it's beauty? Petrified that you won't love it once it's cut up and sewn together? That said fabric for me is this pile of Little Folks by

I'm not even sure what makes me love it so, the soft silkiness of the fabric, the gorgeous colors, or the fact that something about it reminds me of being a young girl...when my life was full of pigtails and pretty dresses.
My stash is finally large enough (and contains all of my favorites) for me to make something. I have even gone as far as sketching some of my ideas out, which I never do. I am nervous but feeling a tad bit determined. So I will keep my fingers crossed and hold my breath while I cut and pray that whatever comes of it will be something that I love as much as I do the fabric! Wish me luck!!

  1. LUCK! I have a lot of fabric like that. It's almost similar to the feeling I have with a brand new piece of paper. Nothing more promising of what will be written there... or created. :)

  2. Oh, you lucky girl! So far I've only been able to pet it in stores! One of these days....

I sometimes sit on a stack of favorite fabrics for a bit, not wanting to cut into them or use them up, but they always end up even better in just the right project. You can do it! Enjoy!

  5. I feel the same way about that stack - I think if I hadn't cut into mine as soon as I got it I would've started feeling apprehensive to cut it too!
My only word of advice is that it is a little more slippery than usual quilting cotton and needs a delicate touch. But I'm sure whatever you plan will turn out beautifully.

I can totally understand your nervousness about cutting into such delicious fabric.
I'm sure you'll make something wonderful!!

  7. What a lovely stack of gorgeous voile! I know how you feel! My solution - buy more and cut into it the second batch so your lovely stack above remains pristine!

  11. I do wish you luck. I have the same problem with the same fabric, isn't Little Folks so divine, I can't get enough of it. Will be watching to see what you do with yours, I haven't quite made up my mind yet, although I'm thinking maybe a snowball quilt. xo

  12. Take a deep, cleansing breath, make sure your rotary blade is nice and sharp and just GO for it! With fabric like that, HOW can you go wrong? :)

  13. Lovely pile of fabric! They are like butter, and take a little more care than quilting cotton. Can't wait to see what you make!

  14. I know just how you feel! After months of drooling over Jenean Morrison's California Dreamin' line, I finally purchased 1/2 yard each of the entire collection. I want what I make to be just perfect ~ and so, it sits......
